Telecom Italia activates FTTC service in L'Aquila

Telecom Italia has begun offering a high-speed fibre-optic broadband service in parts of the city of L'Aquila in the central Abruzzo region. The service, based on FTTC technology, has been extended to 15,000 households in the Pettino area of the city and Telecom Italia hopes to complete the infrastructure in L'Aquila's historic centre by the end of summer. Customers in the connected areas will be able to access the internet at speeds of at least 50 Mbps, increasing to up to 100 Mbps in the future. The operator's fibre optic services are currently available at the promotional rates of EUR 29
