Telecom Italia and Octo Telematics ink connected car deal, launch TIM BabyPad device

Telecom Italia (TIM) has signed an agreement with Rome-based IoT specialist Octo Telematics to develop data-driven products for vehicles not yet connected to the mobile network. Under the terms of the deal, the partners aim to create innovative products and launch on board smart navigation applications for all types of vehicles on the road. TIM said it plans to use its 5G network to roll out a range of tools and devices for vehicle and passenger safety, predictive maintenance and remote vehicle management, insurance based on driving style, theft protection and entertainment.
