Telecom Italia CEO responds to monopoly accusations

Telecom Italia's CEO Marco Patuano has strongly denied accusations that the company is seeking to create a monopoly in the domestic market simply because it is planning to acquire a controlling stake in broadband provider Metroweb. Speaking at the annual conference of the company's minority investors association Asati, Patuano described the accusations as "paradoxical", inviting the accusers to put more money into the pot and adding that Telecom Italia already "invests EUR 3 billion a year, EUR 2.5 billion of that in infrastructure."
