Telecom Italia chairman calls for clear investment rules

Telecom Italia chairman Giuseppe Recchi has called on the Italian government to introduce "clear and certain" rules to align political and regulatory objectives and facilitate investment in new high-speed telecommunications networks, above all fibre. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Recchi gave a cautious welcome to the ambitious fibre-optic development plans of the government, which has pledged EUR 6.2 billion of public funds to expand the country's high-speed broadband network to 85 percent of Italy's population by 2020. Telecom Italia's chairman said the plan was positive
