Telecom Italia to bring FTTC to Pinorelo

Monday 13 April 2015 | 08:53 CET | News
Telecom Italia has begun work on extending its fibre-optic network to the town of Pinorelo near Turin. The network will be expanded to around 10,000 premises, around half the population, with the operator installing 21 km of cables in total to connect 50 street cabinets, bringing internet access at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Telecom Italia's fibre network already covers around 130 cities, or 30 percent of the Italian population, and it intends to expand coverage to reach 75 percent of the population by 2017 at a cost of nearly EUR 3 billion.
