Telecom Italia to create apps using drone-based tech

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced an agreement with Italian company Seikey to identify business opportunities in the drone technology sector. The aim is to develop applications that use drone sensors to transmit data to the cloud via TIM's 4G-LTE network, said the company, adding that the partners will create a two-way communication system linking the drone's autopilot to the operator's broadband infrastructure. Telecom Italia added that its Turin-based TIM Joint Open Lab and Turin Polytechnic have already helped create the corresponding development programme, with potential future uses
