Telecom Italia to discuss new Metroweb proposal - report

A new proposal from Metroweb's shareholders to reopen talks on the development of an ultra-broadband network could be discussed by Telecom Italia in an extraordinary board meeting scheduled for 16 October, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. Earlier this year Telecom Italia appeared to have ruled out long-mooted takeover of the Milan-based fibre-optic provider but the two shareholders of Metroweb – state-backed Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) and infrastructure fund FSI – are keen to ensure the former incumbent operator takes part in the rollout of broadband in larger towns as part of the government's
