Telecom NZ bring CA technology to central Auckland

Monday 26 May 2014 | 09:42 CET | News
Telecom New Zealand has launched carrier aggregation (CA) technology live on six of its 4G sites, bringing the new capacity to central Auckland. The move was made together with technology partner Huawei. The technology is ahead of device capability, but Telecom expects to have CA-capable devices commercially available on its network by the end of this year or early next year. Carrier aggregation will allow mobile users to access two mobile spectrum bands simultaneously over their mobile devices, taking theoretical speeds to 300 Mbps and testing speeds to up to 260 Mbps.
