Telecom responds to 700 MHz comments by rivals

Where earlier Vodafone New Zealand and 2degrees revealed strong views on how the digital dividend should be allocated, Telecom New Zealand is not advocating for a position. Some 45 MHz in the 700 MHz spectrum is expected to become available after the digital switchover and the Ministry of Economic Development is expected to hold a spectrum auction next year. Vodafone wants a spectrum cap of 20 MHz, limiting the resource to two operators, and wants the spectrum to go to the highest bidder. Rival 2degrees says it is entitled to 20 MHz for a fair price as it argues that it has significantly less
