Telefonica acquires 2018-21 Formula 1 rights - report

Friday 5 January 2018 | 16:00 CET | News
Telefonica will continue to broadcast Formula 1 races over the next three seasons after reaching an agreement with rights owner Liberty Media, reports Spanish daily El Espanol. The operator has aired Formula 1 and MotoGP races in Spain via dedicated channels on its Movistar+ pay-TV service since 2014, with Mediaset handling the production. The new deal is exclusive and rules out the possibility of free to air channels or VOD platforms such as Netflix broadcasting the races, added the report.
