Telefonica adopts Microsoft IPTV platform in Brazil

Wednesday 7 December 2011 | 09:52 CET | News
Telefonica/Vivo has adopted Microsoft's video platform for its IPTV service, due to launch in 2012. CEO Antonio Carlos Valente said the operator is planning to increase its pay-TV offering, taking advantage of the new regulations on the market. He said the group is awaiting the proposed public consultation from Anatel to evaluate investments in pay-TV. According to Valente, the company has a plan to spend BRL 24.3 billion on the local market between 2011 and 2014. This is 52 percent more than the BRL 16 billion disbursed in the period 2007 to 2009.
