Telefonica, Alcatel to demo fully virtualised network at MWC

Telefonica and Alcatel-Lucent have announced that they will carry out a live demo of LTE video streaming and videocall services over an end-to-end virtualised network at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 02-05 March. The demo will also include a virtual radio access network (vRAN), virtual content delivery network (vCDN), virtual evolved packet core (vEPC) and virtual IP Multimedia Subsystem (vIMS). The companies said the showcase will incorporate Telefonica´s Unica infrastructure using HP's OpenNFV platform and represents a major move to bring mobile networks towards the cloud,
