Telefonica-AT&T spectrum swap valued at USD 168 mln

Thursday 14 January 2016 | 08:57 CET | News
Last month's Mexican spectrum rental agreement between Telefonica and AT&T was worth USD 168 million, according to a report from legal firm Jones Day, which represented the Spanish operator in the deal. The spectrum rental and frequency swap deal allows Telefonica's Movistar Mexico unit to use 10 MHz in the 1.9 GHz band while AT&T will in turn make use of 10 MHz in the 1.7/2.1 GHz band. As a result, Telefonica's Mexican unit has decided not to take part in the country's auction of 80 MHz of spectrum in the AWS band.
