Telefonica Brasil aims to double FTTH subscribers this yr

Brazilian operator Telefonica/Vivo plans to double the number of subscribers connected with fibre by the end of the year to over 200,000 customers, according Andre Krieger, the director for FTTH at the operator, Speaking during the TM Forum conference in Sao Paulo, Krieger said that the operator currently has 115,000 fibre customers (only broadband) out of a total of one million homes passed, including both residential and corporate customers. The commercial offers go up to 20 Mbps but, according to Krieger, the speeds for end users could reach 4 Gbps, with the introduction of 10 GPON
