Telefonica Brasil revenues up 5.4% in Q2 on GVT boost

Telefonica Brasil reported second-quarter net operating revenues up 5.4 percent year-on-year to BRL 10.43 billion, with EBITDA coming in 15.9 percent higher at BRL 2.95 billion, boosted by the acquisition of broadband provider GVT in May. However, net profit came in at BRL 869.8 million, 56.3 percent less than the earlier quarter when a one-off accounting change increased earnings. On a pro-forma basis, calculated on the basis that GVT had been part of the company since January 2014, Telefonica Brasil posted a net profit of BRL 933 million in the second quarter.
