Telefonica, Caixa, Santander to wind down Yaap m-payments JV

Telefonica and Spanish banks CaixaBank and Banco Santander have decided to wind down their Yaap mobile payments joint venture just two years on from its launch, reports Expansion. Unveiled in April 2014, Yaap offered a shopping service connecting stores to consumers, allowing them to add digital elements to their business, including customer discounts, offers, and loyalty programs, and a mobile-based peer-to-peer (P2P) money transfer service. Although the Yaap Money app was downloaded some 150,000 times, the partners have now opted to pursue their own individual m-payment ventures, said the
