Telefonica celebrates 15 years in Mexico

Telefonica celebrated the 15-year anniversary of its Movistar Mexico operation by pledging to continue investing over 13 percent of its annual revenues in the country. The operator said it had invested some MXN 13 billion since launching in Mexico back in 2001 and its network now covers 93,000 towns, or 90 percent of the urban population. Movistar added that it has increased its customer base from 25 to over 27 million in the past two years, including around 26 million mobile accesses. The operator has also launched 4G-LTE in over 25 Mexican cities after installing some 10,500 base
