Telefonica completes EUR 2.3 mln Canary Islands FTTH rollout

Thursday 2 November 2017 | 09:48 CET | News
Telefonica has announced the completion of its EUR 2.3 million project to bring fibre-optic technology to the islands of La Gomera and El Hierro in the Canary Islands archipelago. The rollout began in October last year, with the company reaching 95 percent of the more than 13,000 inhabitants in 48 localities on the two islands. Local residents and companies will now be able to enjoy fibre connectivity at symmetric speeds of up to 300 Mbps, said Telefonica. The project was co-financed by the EU's regional development programme Feder and local authorities.
