Telefonica e-health initiative reduces A&E visits by 52%

Telefonica has announced that the e-health initiative implemented with the local health authority in Valencia has resulted in 52 percent fewer visits to A&E departments by the chronic patients taking part in the programme and 30 percent fewer hospital visits. The programme, dubbed Valcronic, was set up by Telefonica and Valencia Health Agency in April 2011 to improve the care of patients with a variety of chronic diseases, including diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ValCronic is a preventive programme based on the control of chronic diseases
