Telefonica ends Vivo TV service via MMDS

Telefonica Brasil announced that it will end the Vivo TV service over MMDS, in order to free up the frequencies for 4G mobile services. The operator's pay-TV services on cable, satellite and fibre will not be affected by the change. According to the operator, customers in Sao Paulo, Curitiba and Porto Alegre will be able to use Vivo TV normally until 25 April. Altogether, 29,000 people in the city of Sao Paulo and 3,700 in the cities of Curitiba and Porto Alegre will be affected. After that date, the company said it will provide users with a new pay-TV provider free of charge until 31 May.
