Telefonica, Ericsson reach El Salvador LTE deal

Thursday 17 November 2016 | 14:27 CET | News
Ericsson and Movistar El Salvador (Telefonica) have announced an agreement to roll out the Central American country's first 4G-LTE network. The agreement is part of a larger regional deal under which Ericsson will continue providing 2G, 3G and LTE networks, including all hardware and services. Movistar last week revealed that it intended to invest a total of USD 250 million over the next three years in finally deploying 4G technology in El Salvador, the only country in Central America without 4G connections and one of the few in Latin America without access to LTE, alongside Cuba and Guyana.
