Telefonica executes 1.5% share capital reduction

Friday 14 October 2016 | 09:19 CET | News
Telefonica has executed the cancellation of shares equivalent to 1.5 percent of its capital. In a statement to Spanish market regulator CNMV, the company said it had proceeded to cancel around 74.63 million shares of company stock, as approved at its 12 May shareholders meeting, and recorded the transaction in the Madrid Companies Registry. The company decided to continue with the capital reduction even though the move was previously subject to the sale of its O2 UK unit to 3 UK, a transaction that was eventually blocked by the European Commission.
