Telefonica Germany has launched 4G services in the Berlin subway, based on the 1,800 MHz band. It first started UMTS services last year in more than 200 train stations and tunnels of the Berlin underground, as part of roaming on the E-Plus network. E-Plus customers will also be able to make use of the 4G service. Telefonica said it started planning the LTE coverage in January and deployed 21 base stations to cover the over 200 Berlin stations.
