Telefonica, GFI to trial heat stroke detector at 10 km run

Telefonica and French IT services group GFI Informatique have announced that they will be trialling a heat stroke detecting device at the Pronino 10 km run held in Madrid on 14 June. The battery-powered 58x30x27mm device can be clipped on to arm and head bands, or any part of the runner's clothing, and includes a GPS and Arduino technology as well as a Lilypad temperature sensor and an M2M SIM card with international coverage. Emergency staff will use a special web-based app to monitor the runner's position and body temperature throughout the race, ensuring that the latter doesn't exceed 40
