Telefonica hopes to add 5 MVNOs to Mexico network this year

Wednesday 18 May 2016 | 11:41 CET | News
Telefonica Mexico is looking to add up to five MVNO services to its Movistar network in 2016, reports El Financiero, citing the company's assistant director of MVNOs Mariano Hansen. "The MVNO model will accelerate and grow in the second half of the year and early 2017," said Hansen. Although the MVNO segment currently makes up barely 1 percent of Mexico's 107.7 million mobile subscribers (Virgin Mobile 0.8%, Maz Tiempo 0.04%, Cierto 0.02 percent), an increasingly favourable regulatory environment should see the market grow this year.
