Telefonica loses advertising dispute against Ono

Telefonica has lost an advertising dispute against cable operator Ono, which it accused of misleading the public by advertising that it was the only operator able to offer a 50 Mbps service to millions of customers, Europa Press reports. Telefonica had challenged its smaller rival before Spain's advertising self-regulating body, Autocontrol, whose decisions are final. Ono uses the Docsis 3.0 standard over its coax cable network, that is demonstrably capable of delivering 50 Mbps to the end users, and never stated that it used fibre optic technology throughout its network.
