Telefonica loses Peru tax dispute

Wednesday 10 July 2019 | 10:43 CET | News
Peru's Supreme Court has handed down a judgment in a long-standing tax dispute involving Telefonica's local subsidiary in which it partly ruled in favour of tax agency Sunat, reports Efe. The agency said the court accepted two of its five objections, with the three objections subject to new rulings by the High Court of Justice and Tax Court, and that the operator now owes Sunat at least PEN 700 million (around EUR 190 million). The case relates to taxes and accumulated interest for the 2000-2001 fiscal year and whether or not the operator made sufficient investments to offset tax liabilities.
