Telefonica Mexico rails against unfair interconnection rates

Telefonica Mexico has called on the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) to review the country's interconnection rates, radio spectrum costs and fines, reports Notimex, citing the operator's CEO Carlos Morales Paulin. During the celebration of the company's 15 years in Mexico, the executive said competition was being restricted by the overly high interconnection rates which, unlike other countries, aren't reduced according to the operator's market share and are charged at MXN 0.19 per minute for all operators. He also said the price per MHz of spectrum divided by population came to USD
