Telefonica Mexico seeks partners to challenge Slim - report

Telefonica is looking for partners and potential acquisitions in Mexico in an effort to compete with billionaire Carlos Slim, owner of America Movil, reports Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter. The Spanish group has already held discussions with companies such as Grupo Iusacell, a smaller operator co-owned by Ricardo Salinas and pay-TV provider Grupo Televisa, and is working with the Spanish banks Santander and BBVA, according to the sources.
