Telefonica postpones fibre investments by 2 years

Telefonica has decided to postpone fibre network investments by two years, local newspaper Cinco Dias reports, citing Guillermo Ansaldo, Telefonica's head of Spanish operations. The statement was made at a press conference during the Telefonica Investor Day event. In 2007, Telefonica planned investments of over EUR 1 billion in fibre-optic network deployments in four years. However, as the present economic reality and the competitive landscape have changed, "we have extended to six years what we said we would invest in four", said Ansaldo.
