Telefonica Spain to close 516 ADSL exchanges this year

Monday 4 January 2021 | 09:26 CET | News
Telefonica will shut down a total of 516 ADSL exchanges in Spain this year as part of its ongoing migration to fibre, according to an updated list published by communications regulator CNMC. The company begun closing its copper plants in 2015 to monetise its real estate assets and has accelerated its infrastructure renewal plans in recent years due to the rapid expansion of its FTTH network, notifying the CNMC that it intends to close a total of 1,339 ADSL exchanges by 2026.
