Telefonica testing advantages of 5G on e-sports at MWC

Telefonica and its Movistar Riders electronic sports team conducted the first demonstration in Europe of the advantages of using 5G connectivity to improve the performance of mobile and online gaming. Members of Movistar Riders showcased the experience of playing "Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" on a 5G router connected via Ericsson's 5G mobile network. The technology helped reduce latencies to between 1 and 5 milliseconds, minimising response times and bringing other types of advantages such as the possibility of transferring the entire computing capacity to the cloud.
