Telefonica to invest EUR 70 mln/yr in original Spanish TV

Telefonica has announced that it will be investing some EUR 70 million a year in the production of original Spanish-speaking TV series and films aimed at all the markets in which it operates, reports EFE, citing Telefonica Spain CEO Luis Gilperez Miguel. The company is currently working on 20 projects and intends to broadcast up to eight TV series a year on its Movistar+ pay-TV network starting in 2017. "We are creating the greatest Spanish-language content industry in partnership with TV operators, investing in original fiction and supporting the authors and producers' talent," said
