Telefonica to phase out Canal+ trademark – report

Telefonica is preparing to phase out the Canal+ logo and trademark in Spain around a year after launching its Movistar+ pay-TV platform following the takeover of Digital+, reports website ADSL Zone. The operator has decided to unify its brand and visual identity and, starting 03 August, is set to rename its Canal+ Estrenos, Canal+ Series and Canal+ Xtra thematic channels Movistar Estrenos, Movistar Series and Movistar Xtra, according to the unnamed sources cited in the report. Telefonica has already begun the process, by launching a new channel called #0 to replace Canal+.
