Telefonica to phase out Samsung smart TV app

Thursday 22 June 2017 | 14:23 CET | News
Telefonica has announced that from September it will no longer offer the Movistar TV Ready app for decoder-free access to its TV content via Samsung smart TVs. The application was launched back in 2014 and allowed subscribers to do without receivers or decoders, record programmes in HD and even watch different Movistar TV channels on different smart TVs thanks to Samsung's Multiroom technology. Starting September subscribers will again require an external decoder and remote control to access Movistar TV content on Samsung Smart TVs, which the operator will provide free of charge.
