Telekom Austria plans to launch VoD platform this year

Telekom Austria has announced plans to launch an alternative online video streaming service to Netflix in Austria this year, modelled on the Mexican service Claro Video & Musica, Der Standard reports. The market for potential pay-TV content that Telekom Austria might serve in Austria as well as in Central and Eastern Europe amounts to just under EUR 9 billion. Austrian public broadcaster ORF has already reacted to the new competition by cooperating with VoD platform Flimmit.
