Telekom, De-Cix partner on counter-espionage measures

Tuesday 3 February 2015 | 10:28 CET | News
Deutsche Telekom has signed a contract with the German internet exchange De-Cix in Frankfurt to work on preventing opportunities for espionage by the US, Wirtschaftswoche reports. By creating shorter inner German data routes, Telekom wants to provide less points of attack for potential spying programmes such as the NSA's. Due to the cooperation, the data volumes handled can be multiplied twentyfold; the latest peak traffic level was at 3.8 Tbps, ahead of rates in Amsterdam and London.
