Telekom Slovenije partnered mobile payments company Fortumo to launch direct carrier billing on the Google Play app store. The launch enables over 1 million Telekom Slovenije customers to pass payments on Google Play onto their phone bill. Telekom Slovenije said it's the first operator in the country to support carrier billing on the app store.

As part of the agreement, Fortumo also provides Telekom Slovenije with Fortumo Insight, a smart data analytics platform.

The deal with Telekom Slovenije is Fortumo's third such Google Play agreement in 2017. During January, the company announced launches of app store billing in Latvia with LMT and in Vietnam with Vietnamobile.

Telekom Slovenije said customers can choose the new option by connecting their Google account with their mobile number. The amount of purchases in Google Play via a Telekom Slovenije account is limited to EUR 30/month, while the carrier billing service itself is free of charge for the subscribers.
