Telenor celebrates one year of LTE in Norway

One year after launching LTE in Norway, Telenor covers over 45 percent of the population and has 400,000 active customers on the 4G service, the operator announced. The coverage will increase to 50 percent during the course of the year. Since its launch, the LTE network has been greatly expanded, speeds have been increased, and the customer experience has been strengthened. By 2015, nine out of ten Norwegians will have LTE coverage in their homes. To take advantage of LTE and to receive the highest speeds via 3G, customers need a mobile phone that supports LTE, which most newer smartphones do. Telenor said it is the only operator to offer LTE support for the iPhone 5 in the largest Norwegian cities.

According to a survey conducted by Telenor in which it asked Telenor customers whether they experienced high speeds when using the internet on their mobiles, three out of four who were using LTE mobiles on Telenor's LTE network thought that the speeds were high, and 36 percent of these people thought that the speeds were very high. For mobile surfers who only used 3G, half thought that speeds were high, while 13 percent thought they were very high.
