Telenor denies emergency service concerns over tech upgrades

Telenor Norway has responded to a report on the 28 July edition of newspaper Aftenposten, which said the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) is concerned at its plans to phase out the old fixed telephony system. The Aftenposten report was based on a DSB report sent to Telenor in March. Telenor said its own views on the shift in technology is almost identical with those of the DSB. It said the old landline system is beginning to age. It is not removing the copper grid, although in areas where it is possible to get services using other technologies, it will consider replacing
