Telenor Hungary introduces Mi Box for TV service

Monday 17 July 2017 | 11:18 CET | News

Telenor Hungary has introduced the Mi Box, enabling customers to watch its online TV service Telenor MyTV. The Mi Box converts the TV set into a entertainment hub with music and game download options, as well as the operator's online TV service. The device is manufactured by Xiaomi and is available with a Bluetooth remote control supporting speech recognition.

The-palm sized Mix Box 3 is an Android-based set-top box compatible with any TV set with an HDMI port and supporting 4K and HDR. The Mi Box is available in Telenor shops for HUF 24,990. Telenor does not require that customers sign a binding contract for MyTV packages.

The launch marks Xiaomi's entry on the Hungarian market and comes as it plans expansion in a number of eastern European countries. Telenor's OTT service is available in a free version with 10 channels and with subscriptions for up to 70 channels plus HBO. To date it has been offered only on apps and the web and is also compatible with Apple TV, Chromecast and select Android TVs.
