Telenor Sweden abides by data retention law for now

Telenor Sweden said it is awaiting clarification about the European directive on telecoms data retention. The European Court of Justice has declared the EU Data Protection Directive invalid but Telenor said the directive has been integrated into Swedish law, which it is Telenor's principle to follow. Telenor said it has requested clarification about operators' obligations as things now stand. It said a meeting was due on 11 April between the European Commission and European operators, with a view to providing clarity on the issue. Telenor said if the Swedish authorities have not given a
