Telenor tests solar power for base stations in Sweden

Telenor Sweden announced a pilot to power base stations with solar power cells in order to reduce its CO2 footprint. The company has set up a local power supply unit to power multiple base stations in an area. The solar panels are placed on the roof of the small building. The pilot has been running the longest in Stangnas, which can rely entirely on solar power for 7-8 hours a day. Other stations are locared in Askersund, Vasteras, Balsta and Norrkoping. The operator said it's also exploring how it can install solar panels at individual base stations.
