Televisa, Megacable fined for monopolistic practices

Wednesday 26 February 2014 | 08:49 CET | News
Mexican telecoms regulator Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has fined pay-TV operators Televisa and Megacable for monopolistic practices. The monopolistic practice involved an agreement by which Televisa and Megacable divided between them the markets of production, distribution and marketing of fixed telephony services, pay-TV and internet access provided to end-customers in the state of Mexico, IFT said. The watchdog fined Televisa's unit Cablevision MXN 8.73 million. Megacable will have to pay a fine of MXN 33.5 million.
