Telia tests diesel-fuelled PowerCells for base stations

Telia said it has signed a cooperation agreement with Gothenburg company PowerCell Sweden to test its PowerPac fuel cell at Telia base stations in the country over a period of twelve months through simulated power cuts. The cells use diesel instead of hydrogen or methanol. It said this is a cost-effective alternative that is gentler on the environment, with few emissions and little noise compared with conventional diesel generators.
