Telkom offers voluntary redundancies

South African operator Telkom will begin offering employees voluntary separation and early retirement packages on 14 September, reports MyBroadband. The cumulative effect of regulatory decisions has resulted in Telkom subsidies of approximately ZAR 70 billion to South Africa mobile operators, said Telkom. The fixed line operator said it has implemented several initiatives to ensure its continued competitiveness in this context, adding that a primary concern has been to safeguard jobs from market and economic pressures.
