Telmex to cut tariffs in 2011 despite increased taxes

Monday 3 January 2011 | 10:52 CET | News
Mexican operator Telmex will not increase the price of its services throughout 2011, despite the tax increases. Telmex announces that despite the 1% VAT and IEPS (Special Tax on Production and Services) increase, the price of its Infinitum internet service will be reduced. Additionally, as a result of the interconnection agreements recently signed by Telefonica Mexico, Telmex and Telcel, Telmex has cut the fixed-to-mobile voice calls under the 'calling party pays' system. Starting 1 January, prices have dropped by 10.6 percent to MXN 1.35 per minute.
