Telstra releases first transparency report

Australian telecommunications provider Telstra gave law enforcement agencies and regulators details on its customers 40,644 times. The company released its first transparency report, covering the period from 1 July to 31 December 2013.The total includes 36,053 requests for customer information, carriage service records and pre-warrant checks; 2,871 requests in life threatening situations and Triple Zero emergency calls; 270 court orders; and 1,450 warrants for interception or access to stored communications. The figures do not include requests by national security agencies.
