Thai regulator unveils rural wireless broadband plan

The Thai communications regulator will promote wireless broadband for THB 99 per month with a connection speed of 1 Mbps in four provinces, the Nation reports citing NTC member Natee Sukonrat. The project is part of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)'s ongoing development of its service policy for wireless broadband access, such as Wimax. Under its policy, the regulator plans to use 2.5 GHz spectrum for promoting low-cost wireless broadband services in regional areas while 2.3 GHz spectrum will be used to promote a general nationwide wireless broadband service.
