Thailand to introduce biometric verification of SIM cards in December

Thailand plans to launch biometric checks nationwide for mobile phone users to register their SIM cards. The measure is scheduled for launch on 15 December and seeks to reduce fraudulent electronic transactions, Reuters reports, citing a statement from Thai telecoms regulator. The measure will require users to either have their fingerprints verified or their faces scanned.
